Year 8 Conditioning

The year 8's have started a new conditioning phase in term 4 to develop agility, speed and endurance. Students will be doing various running drills before going to the pool for laps and recovery once a week.

I used an app called #hyperlapse to video some students participating in some running drills.

RAWLINSON MAKES AUSTRALIAN TEAM

CONGRATULATIONS to Josh Rawlinson in year 12 who recently represented Western Australia at the State Schoolboys Baseball Championships. WA finished in 3rd place after being defeated by NSW in the semi-final. NSW went on to beat Victoria in the Grand Final.

Josh Rawlinson had a very successful tournament  and has been named to the AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLBOYS NATIONAL TEAM that will tour the USA later in the year. Josh will also be attending the MLB Baseball Academy on the Gold Coast later this term.

The Specialist Baseball Program is very proud of Josh's efforts and we wish him all the best in the preparation for this years events. His hard work and dedication are paying off with some great results.

Batting Practice

Today we took some BP on the field and set up the GoPro. This gives a different view for the students to look at their swings and contact point. There were a few close calls with the ball and camera!!!

INTRA-SQUAD PRACTICE

Last Friday the year 8-10 Baseball students combined for an intra-squad session and covered some hitting, defence and then some Live scrimmage on the field.

It was a really good session for the year 8 students who were able to put some of their fundamental practice into some live scenarios. There were some really nice plays in the field, specifically cuts & relays and a nice diving play by year 8 MT. TH & ZT both threw really well on the mound for their first hit out.
